PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To define the project’s objectives and accept the project management responsibility within Plant Engineering, ensuring that related development projects, contracts and programmes are managed effectively by providing overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of Demilitarisation of ammunition projects, thereby ensuring consistency with company strategy commitments, strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and contractors in order to deliver projects according to plan. The incumbat will also assist in project execution within Plant Engineering to develop more market opportunities. Demililitarisation of ammunition constitutes the reduction of ammunition into subcomponents, the removal of the energetic materials and the reduction of the energetic materials to inert products.
REPORTING TO: Executive Manager: Programmes, Boskop

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Ensure that Demil projects are executed within approved budgets, timescales and technical specifications, requirements and approved practices to prevent cost and schedule overruns as well as effective overall execution of the project.
• Direct and manage capital projects from start to end ensuring continuity.
• Lead the planning and implementation of the project to ensure timely completion of the project.
• Develop full scale project plans to plan and ensure the successful completion of the project.
• Manage the approved project budget to ensure that budget is not overspent.
• Support compiling technical offers (being part of the marketing effort).
• Support and lead installations and final acceptance tests abroad.
• Identify product deficiencies in performance, conduct investigations as to isolate the core problem(s) and recommend/proof possible solutions.
• Ensure compliance to International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and import/export control requirements, ISO standards and the Explosives Act.
• Liaise across technical groups, project managers/relevant managers in the project,- production- and logistic Department.

POST REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum B Eng Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Project Management experience is preferred.
• Experience in plant and machine design is preferred.
• Good problem solving and client relationship skills.
• Good interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills.
• Good communication, planning and organizing skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office packages including MS Projects).
• Highly organized and self motivated is essential.
