Project Manager

Main purpose of the job
To manage and coordinate the activities of clinical trials and/or clinical projects according to good clinical laboratory practice, study protocol and the standard operating procedures.

Location
Agincourt – Bushbuckridge (Mpumalanga Province).

Key performance areas
Assist with preparation and submission of ethics and internal research documents.

Develop plans to increase efficiency in the field, including but not limited to: team structures and fieldworkers work plan structure, tracking sheet distribution, daily and weekly supervision.

Provide weekly report on retention, fieldwork progress, monitoring and challenges.

Provide feedback to the site team on SOPs, plans and databases including review and testing.

Work closely with LINC and serve as a liaison between the project and LINC.

Provide management and leadership to the field team.

Monitor and manage performance of field staff.

Participate in and report on project progress at monthly Project Site Managers meeting.

Schedule monthly project meetings with the field team to discuss operational issues.

Staff training and development.

Required minimum education and training
Degree in Public Health/Statistics/Demography/Epidemiology or health related discipline.
Be willing to reside in the Bushbuckridge District.

Required minimum work experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Project Management.

Additional education, work experience and personal abilities
Experience working in research environment is essential.
Experience in managing complex teams.
Excellent written and oral communication.
Ability to speak, read and write in Xi-Tsonga would be an advantage.
Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task.
Hard working, self-motivated and flexible in terms of time, location and work.

Action and results oriented.

Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Access)

Ability to use data analysis programme (Stata, R, SAS or SPSS) strongly preferred.
