Position Purpose


Plan, execute and finalise projects according to deadlines and within budget, by acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members. The Project Manager will also assist in defining the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Alignment of business and project strategies to objectives.

Experience & Qualifications


Essential: NQF level 5 
Preferred: Project management diploma or certification 
Enhanced: PMI or Prince2 accreditation 
Enhanced: Knowledge of insurance products and industry 
Min 5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution. 
Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project and project management methodologies. 
Solid experience in working in a multi discipline team fostering collaboration and team work 
Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 
Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. 
Flexible during times of change. 
Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines. 
Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating. 
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. 
Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise. 
Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity. 
Strong written and oral communication skills. 
Strong interpersonal skills. 
Customer service skills an asset.


The Incumbent will be responsible for:


Perspective: Process 
Develop, maintain and distribute the necessary project documentation for example the project plan, strategy, scope and objectives. 
Monitor and maintain the project progress. 
Manage dependencies between projects. 
Identify appropriate resources needed for projects and assign individual responsibilities thereof. 
Early recognition and management of project risks and issues. 
Act as a change agent providing the support and mechanism to implement major changes to the operations of the business. 
Scope projects to ensure optimisation of functional outputs to business requirements. 
Direct and manage project development from beginning to end. 
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. 
Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involve parties throughout the lifecycle of the project. 
Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. 
Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management. 

Perspective: Finance 
Manage the overall costs (budget) of the project 
Track and communicate project return on investment. 
Develop and monitor the budget and co-ordinate expenses. 
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. 
Draft and submit proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary. 

Perspective: Client Services 
Ensure to keep abreast of all project management best practices. 
Achieve all project objectives and complete these objectives to the customers satisfaction. 
Liase with project stakeholders on a continual basis. 
Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. 
Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. 

Perspective: People 
Consultant with internal and external stakeholders to pro-actively address issues. 
Ensure to demonstrate the company's values on a daily basis. 
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate staff. 
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team and within the project. 
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. 
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members to influence them to take accountability for their assigned work.
