Main Purpose of Job:
To ensure that all planned Outages and breakdown maintenance work is carried out in accordance with Company policies & procedures with the emphasis on the client’s Operational requirements.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s):
1) Planned Outages and Breakdown Turbine Project Work:
Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:
• To attend all the Planned Turbine and Projects daily issues including Outages, Interim Repairs, Inspection and Breakdowns.
• Standby coverage during outage if required.
• Appointed as Responsible Person in terms of Company's Plant Safety Regulations.
• Implementation and control of the Company's Engineering Quality systems including Drafting, Updating and Maintaining all the quality plan (PQP) done during any Turbine / Turbine Auxiliary Project work.
• Plant performance monitoring as per Project Outage contract Special Projects and Investigations.
• Supervisory duties related to manpower.
• Maintenance of weekly/monthly checks of Safety and Turbine Systems during outage.
• Reports, WIP and WSWP writing as required.
• Be a Subject Matter expert and Mentor as and when required by the Company for Trainees.
• Management, Support, Train and carrying out of subordinates PD&R in a regular basis.
• Compilation and updating of Project Technical Plan including Site specific Rigging Manuel.
• Trouble shooting on Turbines / Generators and Auxiliary Plant.
• Ensure effective high level planning takes place during the outage Conceptual phase based On-Site-Based Past experience and Scope available.
• Ensure to support the Site Manager as and when required.
• Ensure to support the client with any Technical decision making process.

2) Human Resources and Industrial Relations:
Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:
• Create a culture change through good IR Management.
• Performance problems to be addressed via the P&DR process, drive corrective actions through training and development, and documented as such culture change through good IR Management.
• Subordinates Training and Development, and periodic performance reviews.
• Personal Training and Development.

Minimum Qualification Required:
• S4/N6 and or a minimum of 5 years related experience OR N4 with a minimum of 15 years related experience.

Minimum Experience Required:
• 5 Years’ on Turbine Generator Plant and its auxiliaries.
• Have in-depth knowledge of Turbine and Turbine Auxiliaries’ components.
• Experience in reading PQP’s, Check Sheets and drawings.
• Conversant with measuring equipment and usage.
• Interpret and understand Hydraulic processes, systems, sketches and drawings.
• Knowledge of carrying out and doing P&DR
• Adhere to Quality and Safety systems.
• Conflict Handling, Grievance and Disciplinary process.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Attributes) Required:
Skills:
• Sound Technical knowledge of Station Maintenance and Centreline including protection and control systems.
• Understand and interpret Engineering drawings including Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
• Familiar with SABS ISO 9002 quality systems and the OHSA
• Familiar with BMS systems including Grievance and Disciplinary procedure, House agreement and Quality process.
• Ability to maintain a high quality standard of work.
• Be able to use measuring equipment and care thereof.
• Be able to work to close tolerances.
• Good measuring skills, technique and care of measuring instruments and calibration thereof.
• Fitting Skills – Must be able to dismantle, refurbish and reassemble mechanical components.
• Communication, Planning and Technical report writing skills.
• Have the ability to carry out Fault Finding, Problem Solving and Analysis skills.
• Ability to carry out Mentorship process to Trainees and Learners.
• People Management and conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge:
• To undertake the responsibility of the quality of work and ensuring subordinates comply with quality standards.
• To ensure the compliance with the access control on Turbines and clean controlled conditions on Generators.
• To understand and ensure that Quality assurance procedures, work instructions and standards are adhered to.
• To ensure the compliance with Plant Safety Regulations.
• To ensure the compliance with Safety and Environmental Rules, Regulations and Personal Protective equipment requirements.
• To ensure compliance with Quality Standards & Procedures.
• To ensure effective utilization, care and control of tools and equipment.
