PUBLIC OUTREACH OFFICER (Salary 393K)

PURPOSE:

To implement the planned public education and public awareness programmes aimed at promoting the principle of open and accountable government

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• A three year degree or diploma (preferable in political science or public administration).
• Three years’ experience working as a facilitator, mediator or an organizer in a trade union or similar environment.
• Previous training experience in non-governmental organizations and community based organizations for at least three years.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

KPA 1: Administration

• Compile monthly Public Education Training Schedule aligned to annual Public Education Plan Compile Public Education Attendance Registers for each event
• Submit Representation List to National Events
• Logistic checklist per event
• Complete logistic Checklist per event
• Complete Query Register
• Compile Filed workshop registers, evaluation forms, requisitions for transport, catering and venues

KPA 2: Public Education

• Make inputs and contribute to the development of the Public Education Plan
• Conduct Public Education interventions as part of the Public Education Plan
• Contribute to the content of Public Education Manual
• Ensure that the identified participants are notified and are transported to each event
• Oversee the smooth functioning of standing public education process including
• Work closely with the Committee Co-ordinators to ensure the smooth running of committee driven processes
• Ensure that logistics are in place as per the logistic checklist for every public education intervention

KPA 3: Conduct sectoral parliaments

• Develop concept documents and project plans for sector parliaments

KPA 4: Sittings of the House

• Conduct public education for stakeholders attending the Sittings
• Invite stakeholders to attend and observe the Sittings of the House

KPA 5: Stakeholder Relations

• Compile and maintain a database of stakeholders in the region and upload this database into the Consolidated Stakeholder Database
• Proactively manage these stakeholders using a stakeholder management plan
• Develop comprehensive network of stakeholders (communities, organisations, civic movements, businesses, local government, individuals, institutions of higher learning) in the region to which he / she is assigned
• Conduct Stakeholder feedback sessions
• Facilitate stakeholders meetings
• Implement Stakeholder Education schedules
• Compile Liaison reports
