Purchasing / Inventory Manager


My client is seeking a Purchasing / Inventory Manager to join their team based in Port Elizabeth region. The successful candidate will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

This position is responsible for the purchasing of production and packing materials, the management of storage locations, ensuring system accuracy and effective cost and budget control, on a national basis.

Duties:
· Purchasing:
o Vendor management
o Price negotiations
o Product / service analysis
o Develop and analyse tender documents
o Develop and implement costs reduction opportunities

· Storage location management:
o Stock accuracy – Stock and cycle counting
o House-keeping
o Down-time mitigation
o Timeous and accurate receipt, transfer and issue of material
o Stock loss mitigation

· System accuracy and timing:
o Ensure all transactions are performed timeously
o Ensure all transactions are performed accurately
o Ensure stock accuracy
o Ensure material code accuracy

· Cost and Budget control:
o Develop annual budget
o Maintain budget cost levels
o Develop and implement cost saving initiatives
o Perform monthly financial reconciliations

· General
o Weekly reporting
o Monthly reporting
o Manage service provider and vendor relationships


The criteria and requirements are as follows:

· B Com or equivalent
· 3-5 + years relevant experience
· Proven track record in managing a team
· Excellent knowledge of purchasing policies and best practices
· Proven track record in materials and store management
· SAP (MM Module) proficiency
· Effective communication and negotiation skills
· Ability to analyze financial statements and reports
· Willing to travel
