Purpose: Responsible for the planning, analysis, design and performance of tests as an integral part of the engineering process to deliver quality products. This work includes the porting of test cases into an automation environment for regression testing in an iterative development scenario.

Key Accountabilities

Define and establish an automation strategy and process.
Take ownership and responsibility for the design and development of all aspects of automated testing along with the creation, execution and maintenance of automated scripts.
Lead, mentor and help to up-skill junior members of the automation team.
Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications – IT related Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of training and experience 5 + years of relevant professional work experience.
Skills – Thorough knowledge of the principles of functional and non-functional testing, and a track-record of innovation in testing.
Experience – 3-5 years’ experience in developing automated test systems and scripts beyond record and playback. Specifically developing functions, adding control flow logic, loops etc.
Experience – Understand at least two of the following languages; C#, JavaScript, ASP.NET, HTML, Java, Protractor.
Experience – Source control systems, such as Octopus, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins etc.
Strategic Perspective – Needs to keep overall objectives and strategies in mind, and not be deflected by matters of detail.
Stress Handling – Retaining objectivity and proper understanding of a problem or situation when placed under conditions of stress
Applying standards – Good in application of relevant industry and process standards to all tasks undertaken.
Experience – Hybrid Agile methodologies will be an advantage (Waterfall and Agile).
