Estimator (pref. P.QS) with a Bachelors in QS and 5+ years’ experience in the building industry.

Job Description:

Prepare work to be estimated by gathering blueprints, specifications, proposals and related documents
Develop building and structural engineering estimates by analysing material and manpower requirements
Tender preparation and submission including the accurate pre-qualification of documentation, as per tender specifications
Conform specifications as required by the project and client
Adjudicate subcontractor prices
Justify and present resolution for the building and structural cost of wasted materials and possible delays
Interpret drawings using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience, materials and symbols on blueprints
Assist in analysing vendor quotations and associated civil/structural status issues
Liaise with clients and project parties
Maintains historic tender information
Assess material, labour and equipment required and analyse quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers
Ensure highest level of safety during all stages of project execution

Minimum Requirements:

B.Sc./B-Tech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
P.QS registration will be advantageous
5-10 years’ postgraduate experience in estimating in the buildings industry
Experience in site planning and estimating
Must have successful tendering experience
CCS knowledge and experience imperative
Experience and knowledge of frequently used practices, concepts and procedures within construction and sound knowledge of contract conditions (FIDIC, NEC, BLUEBOOK, COLTO)
Strong problem solving skills
