A company specialising in Intelligent Transport Systems has an opening for a Quality Assurance Tester (QA Tester):

POSITION DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
Responsible for the testing of system software and roll-out on site.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reduce departmental and company overheads and/or expenses;
Ensuring that there are no penalties awarded due to Software Testing Issues;
Delivering client acceptable Testing on time and within budget;
Reducing overtime/additional payments to Testing Staff;
Delivery to provided deadlines;
Display of Good Work Ethic;
Adherence to Policies & Procedures;
Enhancement of Company image and brand;
Display of Initiative (also in respect of steps taken to meet deadlines/perform task as expected);
Own work habits – amount of work, accuracy, handling of difficult situations, ability to work under pressure, assertiveness, assuming
responsibility, decision making skills, independent work, commitment, problem resolution skills;
Communication Skills;
Conducts a wide analysis and quality control tests to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end user requirements;
Prepare quality control test cases from requirements and specifications;
Drafts and Revises test plans and scripts with consideration to end to end system flows;
Executes test scripts and manual testing according to application requirement documentation;
Log defects, identifies course of action and performs preliminary route cause analysis;
Recommends and implements process improvements to enhance testing strategies; and
Analyzes requirements and design aspects of projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology testing (PST, ISTQB and ISEB).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in use of the EFKON Toll Software and Hardware (end user)
Experience in SQL (Structured Query Language);
Experience in Informix / MySQL preferred;
Experience in Java / Linux end user (would be beneficial but not a requirement);
Ability to create and maintain documentation to accepted levels;
Good communication skills;
Be able to give detailed feedback and error reporting abilities;
Detail Oriented;
Knowledge of testing approaches and techniques;
Diagnostic and problem-solving skills;
Deadline driven; and
Performance driven.
