A power generation giant is looking for a seasoned Quality Engineer to join their Spares Logistics Department

AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

Take full responsibility to provide a professional quality planning service to the Spares Logistic department ensuring a high standard of process Quality Plans (PQP) and Check sheets for all jobs related to large Steam, Gas and Hydro Turbines, Generators and related plant

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure a PQP and Check Sheet Process is in Place and Continuously Improvement
• Compilation and Implementation of PQP’s and Check Sheets
• Suppliers and Subcontractors Quality Assurance
• Provision of a BMS Administration Service
• Ensure the Development and Enhancement and the Planning/Scheduling of Quality Assurance Personnel
• Business Plan Objectives
• Safety Health Environment and Quality
• Key Relationship Management
• Performance and Development

SHEQ Responsibilities

• Continuous Improvement: Ensure that your Administration Document is current, and includes your SHEQ objectives Ensure that all legal appointments are valid and in place for your area of control
• SHE Compliance: As a Section 8 & 9 appointee, you are to ensure that the duties of the employer as contemplated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 are properly discharged and all legal appointments are valid and in place for your area of control
• Reduce rework: Measure and report on Rework vs. Revenue for your department on a monthly basis and ensure you reduce rework to less than 0.5% of your turnover
• ISO and OHSAS certification: Ensure that all activities are carried out as per the documented processes and comply with the requirements of ISO and OHSAS certification
• Audit Rating: Maintain an audit score of less than 2 and/or receive no major audit findings

Knowledge

• Knowledge of Project Environment
• Specific Commodity experience advantageous as far as Product and Supplier base is concerned

Skills

• Above average technical competency in the field of quality and engineering related to the maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul of large rotating equipment
• Above average level of technical skills in the reading and interpretation of mechanical drawing, procedures and specifications
• Above average strategic, analytical and problem solving skills
• High level of Management and organisation skills
• High level investigative skills and technical negotiating skills
• High level of computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Projects, CAD and database/Management Information systems
• Effective English communication skills, and able to communicate at all levels in the organisation

Experience:
• Experience specifically related to the engineering quality aspects of maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul of large rotating plant and equipment
• Experience of quality management system and relevant ISO standards
• Experience of the OHSA, Construction Regulations and Environmental Regulations

Qualification(s)
• BSc/BEng Mechanical Engineering with minimum three (3) years related experience
• B Tech Mechanical Engineering with minimum five (5) years’ related experience

Attributes

• Above average engineering and technical knowledge of the quality and engineering aspects related to the maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul of large rotating equipment
• Knowledge of quality management systems and relevant ISO standards
• Knowledge of the OHSA, Construction Regulations and Environment Regulations
