Quantity Surveyor – Road Construction

Salary: R16 – R25 000

East Rand

An infrastructure development construction sector company is currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor – Road Works to join their dynamic team

Education, Training and Experience

• Matric
• Valid driver's license and own vehicle
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience
• BTech or BSc degree in Quantity Surveying
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Must have fair knowledge of Rise & Fall and Escalation calculations
• Must have a stable working history and contactable references
• Must have 2-5years experience in Road Construction.

Key performance areas
All aspects of Commercial Management of projects i.e. quantity surveying , estimating, preparing payment certificates, preparing Bills of Quantities or other forms of contract documentation, tender adjudication and award, contract administration, final accounts, market valuations, etc.

Skills and Competencies
• A background in road construction.
• Knowledge of Bitumen and their availability.
• Interpersonal and communication skills are valued.
• Must be current on the latest available technology.
• The ability to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
• Understanding on the fundamentals of estimating and the ability to review total Project and Change Notice estimates to ensure accuracy of estimated costs for the scope of work at hand.
• Ability to prepare interim and final payments certificates, final invoices, escalation and forex calculations.

Duties
• Preparing estimates, payment certificates and budgets, proposals and other documentation, to prepare time, cost and labour estimates for road construction projects.
• Preparing bills of quantities and other tender documentation for competitive tendering for projects. Computes cost factors used for preparing estimates for management and determining cost effectiveness.
• Advising on and preparing contract documentation.
• Monitoring and reporting on cost for the duration of projects. Reviews data to determine material and labour requirements and prepares itemised list.
• Consults with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
