A qualified Ammonia Refrigeration Technician is urgently required by a wholesale and retail concern in Durban (Bluff/Jacobs area). The company requires an experienced RT who can personally perform daily, scheduled and emergency ammonia refrigeration as well as general maintenance and repair tasks. This must be achieved through the highest degree of quality repairs and maintenance according to acceptable maintenance and repair standards.

Minimum Requirements:

•Must be qualified as an ammonia refrigeration technician (not negotiable);

•Must be qualified and certified to work on ammonia refrigeration equipment/plants;

•Must have electrical experience/background, knowledge of cabling/wiring, pneumatics, hydraulics, variable speed drives and electric motors etc.;

•Electrical and mechanical maintenance of high speed packaging and allied machinery, form fill and seal machines, boxing machines, industrial microwaves, conveyors, shrink wrappers, heat seal machines, printers, car toners, scales and mixers;

•Sound technical knowledge and experience relating to the general maintenance and repairs to:

?Mechanical equipment.

?Forklifts, mobile racking, dock levellers, speed curtains etc.

?Plumbing, sewerage, electrical, joinery and buildings.

?Painting, welding and maintenance of structures.

?General repairs and maintenance of buildings.

•Must be able and willing to perform any other maintenance functions which are not refrigeration specific;

•Sound knowledge of the relevant Governmental Health and Safety Acts, regulations and practices;

•Proven skills in performing technical duties of the highest standards;

•The ability to read and interpret specifications, plans, blueprints and sketches;

•Lead and direct a small team of subordinates;

•Maintain and update services, maintenance and repair schedules, records, files and registers;

•Previous experience in interacting with and monitoring external maintenance and repairs service providers;

•Inclination to function independently and execute proactive maintenance and repairs;

•Own reliable transport is essential;

•Must be able to work long hours, shifts (when required) and after hours when necessary;

•Must be able to work under pressure;

•Must be able to work in sub-zero temperatures;

•Medically fit and not afraid of heights.
