Our client, a National Brewery, is looking for a Regional Operations Manager based in Durban, to provide strategic and tactical direction and leadership to the Brewery Managers. The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the brewery performance including sales volumes and profitability.

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in business management, accounting or related field required.
• Proven ability to operate an FMCG company with experience of 3 to 5 years managing a small to medium size operation.
• Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capability of leadership by example
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-2 year time span
• Problem analysis and problem solution skills at both a strategic and functional level
• Competent and knowledgeable in FMCG operations
• Strong customer orientation
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong team player
• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
• Conflict resolutions and/or mediation skills
• Solid ability to utilize Excel and Word
• Must be able to travel

Responsibilities include:
• Advise Regional Executive Vice-President on strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout brewery operations.
• Assume full and overall responsibility for brewery performance including sales volumes, profitability, productivity and cost management.
• Strong analysis and review of brewery P & L statements and activity reports and development of improvement strategies.
• Detailed reports to be submitted regularly and on time to the EVP and other support functions.
• Works with Brewery Managers in setting operational sales and profit goals and financial plans for the brewery operations.
• Account for the total brewery operation, i.e. production, equipment, aggressive production cost management, operations analysis, and inventory management and delivery performance.
• Lead manufacturing operations toward significant productivity gains, capacity utilization, delivery performance and resource utilization.
• Provide guidance, leadership and coaching to Brewery Managers on all operational matters.
• Interacts regularly with Head-Office executive team and individual department heads to ensure that the Brewery Operational priorities are aligned with the total company direction.
• Communicates changes in regulations, policies, and procedures to the Brewery management and employees.
• Assists in recruiting, training, and developing a highly motivated and effective team of Brewery Managers and in providing the equivalent for Assistant Brewery Managers.
• Coordinates performance reviews quarterly within operations job functions.
• Responsible for staff planning and coordination for weekends, holidays and vacation periods and special meetings.
• Responsible for brewery audits; facilitates management of security issues.
• Conducts weekly meetings with Brewery Managers and provides the minutes to the EVP.
• Continually investigates and introduces process improvement measures.
• Must be committed to visiting brewery sites.
• Analyzes competition reports and makes suggestions and plans accordingly.
• Analysis of market surveys must provide direction to brewery operations based on the results.
• Must provide Brewery Managers with the guidance needed for promoting, marketing and selling of all brewery products.
• Lead by example providing a positive, enthusiastic, top performing role model within clean brewery environment.
• Promote company by building strong relationships with communities, civic, government and customers in the area.
• Aggressively promote employment equity and development through EE committee chairing, stakeholder consultations, plans implementation and effective reporting to brewery and Head Office-HR.
• Other duties as assigned and incidental thereto.
