Regional Skills Advisor - CT

SM Placements is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Regional Skills Advisor based in Western Cape for an exciting role within an SETA.

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2018

Education, Training and Experience

• A relevant tertiary qualification.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a target driven and project driven environment
• Knowledge of skills development and related legislation
• Excellent project management and customer service experience and sales knowledge
• Chemical sector experience will be an added advantage
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
• Accurate and meticulous attention to detail
• Self -driven and high performance driven
• Excellent monitoring and reporting skills.
• Able and willing to travel extensively and in possession of a valid driver’s licence and own car
• Skilful in working with excel spread sheets
• Very good time management and planning skills

Key performance areas

• Manage skills development activities within assigned organisations.
• Advise stakeholders regarding mandatory grant and discretionary grants processes in line with funding policy
• Manage Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) from levy paying companies
• Identify and recruit new companies within the Chemical Sector
• Conduct on-going chemical industry capacity building workshops and attend relevant stakeholder/regional events where applicable
• Ensure that Skills Development Committees are established and operational
• Conduct SDF capacity building Workshops
• Maintain accurate record keeping as per the Quality Management System
• Evaluate the extent to which training on discretionary grants projects has commenced and progress achieved against signed agreements using project management approach
• Conduct site verifications and prepare reports on interventions,
• Maintain an accurate database of stakeholder performance and track record for the discretionary grants
• Control and manage learner terminations received and reconcile to project deliverables and allocated funds
• Produce accurate financial reports for the skills development interventions within the region
• Evaluate and conduct due diligence for the Discretionary grants award applications
• Monitor & Evaluate Training Interventions
• Provide accurate monthly and quarterly performance reports
• Identify, report and mitigate risks within own area of work
• Provide system support to companies and providers as and when necessary
• Generate Request for Payment for Discretionary Grants timeously
