Job title: Registered Nurses (Old Age Homes R21 000)

Reports to: Nursing Manager

Location: Cape Town

Job Purpose: To manage the overall health care function per shift in accordance with applicable legislation and agreed medical procedures

Qualification & Experience:

Matric/Grade 12
Diploma in General Nursing
Registered with SANC
At least 3 years and above of experience in general nursing
Must be able to communicate well with Elderly
NB: Empathy and the Respect of the elderly are of paramount importance.

Duties and Responsibility

Provide the services of primary health care to Residents from the retirement village attending the daily clinic in the Health Care Facility
Keeping Village Patient/Resident files up to date and complete
Keep accurate records of the number of Residents visiting the clinic
Check and control of emergency trolley and associated equipment according the emergency trolley check list
Ensure the residents receive the appropriate services I.e. monitor residents at risk
Supervise & manage the administering, ordering and record keeping of medicines to village residents who cannot manage their own medication- preferably blister packing
Prompt and regular feedback to Senior Duty Sister of any serious problems/potential problems with Village Residents
Emergency care that falls outside of clinic times, any non clinical by carers or Village Sister will be billed.
Provide services as directed by the Professional Nurse in charge of health care & The Senior Duty Sister.
Fulfil any reasonable request or instruction from Professional nurse in charge and/or Senior Duty Sister that is in line with your qualification, experience or capability
Take daily stock counts of all medical consumables and ward stock for the unit/village Resident’s needs.
Management of the facility in the absence of the Unit Manager
