Job Description

Managing the execution of planned maintenance-related and shutdown work in close co-operation with the Superintendent in order to ensure shortest job duration, safe working practises and high quality of maintenance work
Required to take management ownership of unplanned major corrective jobs within one’s role through discretion
Continually supporting and coaching of peers and production staff, aiming to improving technical competency, mutual support and teamwork
Supporting the plant superintendent with the compilation of formal development plans for maintenance supervisors and the constant monitoring of the development process
Contributing and participating towards the implementation of central energy management system
Assisting with annual review and providing input into the Asset Care policy and strategy
Participating and contributing towards developing the company's CMMS and asset care reports based on group and site requirements
Collecting, compiling and analysing all equipment performance data
Investigating the desirability and feasibility of proposed asset modifications, and approving such modifications if deemed desirable and feasible
Modelling the expected results of the maintenance strategies in order to understand what the impact on availability, reliability and maintenance cost is going to be
Developing capital application requests for approved modifications and / or projects
Ensuring that standard jobs (preventive, corrective and design-out) are compiled by the maintenance supervisor according to the maintenance strategy
Assessing the process of failure pattern analysis and ensuring that maintenance strategies are updated in order to improve availability and reliability, while trying to reduce lifecycle cost
Periodically analysing plant life cycle cost and operability in order to make recommendations in this regard to commercial management
Periodically assessing the availability of spare exchange units in stock and making recommendations in this regard to commercial management
Assessing the contents of shutdown plans in order to reduce unfortunate losses without having to sacrifice equipment reliability and intrinsic value and integrity
Performing site asset care “over-assessments” from time to time to ensure alignment of standards and measurements between sites
Rendering system and functional first line support to sites and users as required
Assisting with the execution of SYSAID calls and management of change request related to asset reliability
Liaising with suppliers / OEM’s / external consultants / advisors to the company with reference to reliability or asset improvement, efficiency related work
Stimulating, with plant superintendent and maintenance controller, aspects such as safety, parts, tools / maintenance equipment, suppliers, techniques and practices that will improve in equipment availability, reliability, product quality, reducing cost and safety
Hosting regular reliability / planner user sessions to enhance site planning and scheduling skills and coach site reliability engineers
Developing and implementing appropriate tools and mechanisms to effectively manage customer problems and complaints, communicate proposed solutions and progress to users and site management
Assisting in site planning resource development with a focus on the maintenance foreman, planners and artisans in order for business value add
Drive and ensuring alignment of site planning office resources with asset care strategy

Minimum Requirements

B-Tech/ Bsc, BEng in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
5 years Mine or Manufacturing plant engineering experience
3 years Maintenance Systems and Standards experience
Preferably 3 years Supervisory experience
Reliability reporting and analysis experience advantageous
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities
Computer literate, understanding of RCM / maintenance tactic development framework
Must have a valid driver’s license
