Our client is the exclusive representative for leading international manufacturers and suppliers of specialty ingredients, offering products and services into the food industry. We offer an extensive product range for the dairy, beverage, wine, meat, bakery, health and nutrition industries including bacterial cultures, enzymes, natural colours, phosphates, stabilisers, emulsifiers and various other food ingredients.

Major Duties / Key Responsibilities:

Research and develop products specifically related to the Dairy industry.
Formulate products to be customer specific and to comply with the Foodstuff, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (with Regulations).
Carry out pilot plant trails with suppliers and customers.
Develop and review production processes.
Report on a monthly basis to overseas principals.
Institute quality control procedures for products developed.
Implement efficient document control to ensure that only valid documents are utilized across the whole organisation.
Responsible for ensuring that all products comply with legislation, including labelling regulations.
Completion of customer questionnaires and internal safety data sheets as well as product data sheets.

Qualifications / Experience:

Matric.
Relevant Tertiary Food related technical qualification or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years food experience will be preferred. Most ideally in the dairy industry.
Knowledge and implementation of HACCP or FSSC 22000.
Knowledge of the bakery industry will be an advantage.
Must be computer literate.
Strong and extensive knowledge of the dairy industry and its products.
Adherence to good manufacturing practices.
Knowledge of the Foodstuff, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act and with Regulations.
Knowledge of the labelling legislation.
Knowledge of a Food safety standard such as HACCP and/or FSSC22000.
