Job Description
The research manager will have the responsibility of developing and managing the monitoring and evaluation components of all Heartlines interventions.
In particular the evaluation component of a project that aims to reach children and youth leaders in order to get them to embrace and live out positive values especially as they relate to their attitudes and behaviours towards money. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the contracted research company and preparing findings for submission to leading journals
In addition the research manager would advise Heartlines staff on M and E of other Heartlines programmes

Purpose of Role

The primary purpose of this role is to:
• Design and implement monitoring and evaluation protocols for Heartlines interventions
• Manage the evaluation of the money and values project
• Ensure that the research company delivers on time and within budget
• Prepare research findings for submission to leading journals
• Present findings at meetings and conferences
• Work with the rest of the Heartlines team

Key Accountabilities
• Management of external research firm
• Management of Heartlines research officers
• Regular reporting of progress to project manager and stakeholders
• Conducts meetings, give presentations and interfaces with stakeholders
• Work with the rest of the Heartlines team

Additional competencies (skills, abilities and knowledge) required to perform the role
• Strong leadership and management ability
• Excellent social research skills both qualitative and quantitative
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to manage a small team
• Excellent research report writing and presentation skills

Previous Work Experience Essential
• 5 years or more relevant research experience
• Experience in evaluation of social change projects
• Design and analysis of social research projects would be an advantage
• Successful submission of research reports to journals would be an advantage

Software Literacy
• Advanced Excel skills
• Competency with a statistical software package
• Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products
• Knowledge of Atlas TI

Education Essential
• Master degree or above in an appropriate discipline
