Research Nurse
Shandukani – Johannesburg
A Healthcare providing Clinical Care to HIV positive adults, children and adolescents is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Research Nurse.
The purpose of this position is to provide best practice data collection, clinical assessments, and collection of specimens and provide patient care according to various protocols, and to provide pre- and post-test HIV counseling, as required. The position will be to provide clinical support for the various IMPAACT Network studies.
Education, Training and Experience
• Diploma in General Nursing (3 years)
• South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Minimum of 1 years’ nursing experience in a clinical environment
• Diploma in Primary Health Care or similar will be an advantage
• Certification in good clinical practice (GCP)
• Working experience in a clinical environment
• Experience in phlebotomy
Key performance areas
• Prepare lab kits, source documentation ahead of patient visits, and ensure lab kits are not expired
• Maintain completeness and accuracy of source documentation, including lab requisitions and making certified copies of clinic records, TB & Road to Health vaccine cards etc
• Ensure ongoing adherence to research protocols
• Ensure required questionnaires are completed in real time with the caregiver/participant.
• Conduct phlebotomy, TST and induced sputums, when required
• Accurate health assessment of patients conducted
• Monitor and evaluate patient care
• Provide education and training to family members on basic medical care and health information for patients
• Completing all source documentation and case report forms (CRF’s), as required.
• Ensure laboratory results are obtained from the lab within the correct timeframes Assist with contacting defaulters and participant follow-up visits, if or when required
• Ensure all SOP's are followed
• Ensure no errors with the Informed Consent Form and process
• Ensure that parents/participants understand all aspects of research participation
• Ensure correct use of the Consent Checklist
