RESEARCHER/INTERNAL CONSULTANT (IC)
Introduction to the Internal Consultant (“IC”)/Researcher Role

The role of a Researcher (IC) is to free up the EC (“External Consultant”) from the bulk of search and administration in order to generate more business and increase the success rate in closure of deals.

Key Performance Areas:
• Sourcing candidates via searches on the database, advertising, headhunting etc.;
• Screening CVs and extracting potential candidates;
• Drafting positions to be advertised in weekly publications, job boards, social media, main stream media;
• Handling ad response;
• Entering information of new job specs on to the database.
• Ensuring that the database is up-to-date with the progress on job specs, which includes:
• Required skills and salary etc;
• Name of candidates in process with the client;
• Feedback from candidates on the interview;
• Feedback from clients on the potential applicants;
• Setting-up competency-based interviews between EC and candidates.
• Once the candidate has been interviewed, the Researcher (IC) ensures that the CV is typed and sent to the client;
• Setting-up interviews: the (Researcher) IC is the liaison between the client and candidate;
• She/he also arranges parking and directions etc. are sent to the candidate before the interview;
• Prepares candidates before their interviews with clients, e.g. briefs them on the job spec, the person they will be meeting etc.;
• Candidate contact: tracking candidate’s career movement, contact details etc. and ascertain whether or not they are still in the market/interested in looking at other opportunities. Results need to reflect on our database, this is essential;
• Archiving CVs of candidates that Paton Personnel cannot use currently;
• Recording recruitment statistics;
• Ensuring that candidates have commenced their new respective positions and facilitating invoicing with clerk.
• Keep up to date with market trends. Read financial publications and other financial media to keep up-to-date with client developments – these clippings can be filed, electronically downloaded or notes can be added onto the client in our database.


Requirements include:
• High level of literacy in Linked-In and job portals;
• Ability to conduct and present research across industries and companies that include sourcing, evaluation and shortlisting appropriate candidates for technical job specs. These shortlists will be presented to the EC for decisions as to whom will then will be headhunted or approached;
• Headhunting ability – confidence to approach potential candidates and explain the benefits of the available job specs to them and to field questions from the candidates;
• Mapping of staff across divisions within the desk’s area of speciality;
• Giving and receiving feedback on technical candidates after interviews.

Our Database

Our Database is the candidate/client management tool of Paton Personnel. It is crucial to the business. The Company’s ability to fill job specs and to find information in an efficient manner is largely dependent on the effectiveness of searches on the Database. The effective screening of the data and the accuracy of data capturing onto the Database, determines the effectiveness of searches and hugely impacts on the success of the company. It is vital that the IC accepts the strategic importance of the Database to Paton Personnel and takes accountability and responsibility for its contents, usage and improvements in usage.

The administration of the Database requires excellent attention to detail, accuracy, speed and the development of an understanding of the categories of specific skill bases pertaining to candidates. An overriding theme will be to ensure that relevant actual skill sets of candidates are correctly reflected on the Database. The IC will be expected to become highly proficient, within a month of start date and after Induction and Training, with the Database in order to maintain integrity of the information contained in the Database.

Once deleted, data cannot be retrieved. Therefore, the utmost care must be taken not to delete any data without permission
