The advertised position is available in Windhoek, Namibia.

Job Purpose:

To lead, motivate and supervise a team of Market Specialist, to reach the financial targets of the company, to provide an excellent service to our agents and passengers and to sell profitably.

Key responsibilities:

Reservations

Educate, train and support the Market Specialist.
Create cost awareness within the team.
Supervise the Market Specialist work.
Process, analyse and action upon turnaround time and workload reports.
Do random checks on the Market Specialist skills and the results of their work.
Do weekly briefings regarding the Market Specialist queries / problems and communicate the company’s needs and news.
Reduce the transaction turnaround time.
Communicate product knowledge.
Improve quality of suppliers’ products by communicating and discussing passengers’ feedbacks.
Investigate and understand the passengers’ and overseas operators’ requirements.
Responsible for answering the 24 hour emergency phone.
Check Market Specialist work with regards to profitability and mistakes using appropriate tools e.g. margin control.
Represent the company in industry circle
Build sustainable relationships with counterparts on every level
Constantly improve profitability of bookings

Human Resources

Plan the number of Market Specialist needed, budget their costing, define the specific requirements for each post, create job descriptions, initialize the recruiting process, participate in interviews.
Keep records on any kind of leave / off days / additional days worked.
Build up and maintain a high level of motivation and team spirit.
Be approachable and supportive to your staff.
Ensure open communication and information policy and have regular meetings with your staff.
Establish clear targets for your staff, carry out annual performance appraisals and be involved in any required disciplinary procedures.
Develop and support the staff.
Ensure proper training for new staff in coordination with HR.
Maximize the available staff force by cross-training consultants.

Additional responsibilities:

Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts cost, profit, nett and gross selling prices.
Know what we sell and what we do not sell.
Understand the intricacies of the product, hotel types, flight possibilities,
Transfers, tours etc.

Be aware of our competitors’ products.
Travel on educationals’ and familiarization trips to Southern Africa, report back and provide training to the team.
Demonstrate good communication skills and customer care.
Support the decision making process of management by giving input.
Keep all information obtained from management confidential if not explicitly told otherwise.

Required education:
High school or equivalent

Required experience:
Reservations management: 3 years
margin control, profitability, expense control: 2 years
market specialist/ travel consultant training: 1 year
