A vacancy exists in the Buffalo City office for a Resident Engineer / Technologist to commence duties in the Water Business Unit as soon as possible. This is a limited duration contract of approximately 9 months with the possibility of permanent relocation to East London or Port Elizabeth.

Main Responsibilities
• Monitor and report daily on construction progress ensuring that the project remains within budget and construction program
• Compile daily works reports in a format to include weather conditions, plant on site and works undertaken
• Maintain quality records Inspect, witness, sample and arrange for tests when required
• Measure, with the contractor, dimensions of the works performed recording location, widths, lengths and depths
• Monitor adherence to the environmental management programmes and or actions which may affect the environment
• Keep the Engineer fully informed of activities on site and report any unusual or interesting items occurring
• Monitor the construction methods including the plant and equipment used – note actual working hours
• Report to the Engineer daily on construction progress
• May be required to assist the office with some design work

Minimum Qualifications
• BTech degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional registration would be an advantage

Knowledge and Experience
• More than 5 years’ experience on site in the field of construction management Civil Designer and AutoCAD experience essential
