Our client requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven candidate to take up the role of a Resident Engineer.

Key Performance Areas

• Identify and communicate statutory issues and technical risks
• Know the plant from physical, functional and operational perspective
• Understand the interface to plant outside the Company battery limits
• Integrate with the client engineering personnel and communicate engineering structure to the engineering department
• Form a link between the company and the client discipline engineers
• Have a basic understanding of each engineering discipline
• Know what the engineering department can offer the client
• Understand and clearly communicate the client strategic plan for short, medium and long term, for each boiler
• Be actively involved in engineering project scope management of outages and all tender opportunities, including definition, WSB development, scope changes and ensure scopes have been executed
• Be actively involved in engineering project time management, including activity definition, activity sequencing and schedule development in conjunction with the engineering resource co-ordinator
• Be actively involved in engineering cost management including man-hour estimation and man-hour control in conjunction with the engineering resource co-ordinator
• Be actively involved in engineering quality management
• Communicate to management, including scope visibility and create awareness of site activities, distribute information and report performance on engineering projects for all stake-holders
• Undertake pre-outage and outage activities
• Monitor, review and communicate on the technical status of the Power Stations Key Performance Indicators
• Take part in boiler tube leak inspections and forum meetings
• Be involved with plant maintenance philosophies, maintenance plans, plant failures and communicate to the company

Required Qualifications / Experience
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• B-Eng degree / B-Tech / N-Dip (mechanical or metallurgical discipline
• Preferably professionally registered at ECSA
• A minimum of 5 years experience within a boiler construction industry
