Job Purpose

To deliver psychometric services and offer career development and psycho-educational services; contribute to the supervision and training programme of student psychometrists and intern educational psychologists within the ethical framework of the HPCSA.

Key Responsibilities
1. To contribute and participate in the orientation, training and supervision programmes of student psychometrists and intern educational psychologists with regards to psychometric assessment procedures and processes, as well test library protocols, administration, scoring and report writing.
2. To coordinate psychometric assessment services within scope of practice.
3. To conduct and quality assure psychometric assessments. Score, interpret, generate client reports and deliver assessment feedback to clients.
4. To participate in the design, monitoring and evaluation of the psychometric assessment programme.
5. To provide in-depth career development services including content development and facilitation of workshops to clients, staff and career education facilitators and service providers in or out of the centre.
6. To develop and deliver psycho-educational life skills services aligned to the Life Orientation curriculum of Grade 7-12 learners, in collaboration with the Career Education team.
7. To coordinate and monitor periodic test inventory checks and maintenance of media library with the Career Centre Administrator. Liaising with test distributors as well as order testing instruments; record and track the needs of new psychometric assessment tools, instruments and resources for the media library.
8. To ensure an appropriate referral system is followed for client referrals.
9. To assist in the development and enhancement of an immediate and active referral network of professionals within our geographical setting.
10. Coordinate and implement Saturday career education and assessment sessions by engaging with freelance or staff counsellors within the accepted standard operating procedure framework.

Minimum requirements

1. Honour’s degree in Psychology, or equivalent.
2. Registration as a Psychometrist (Independent Practice) with the HPCSA (Minimum of three years registration with the HPCSA).
3. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the delivery of a wide range of career assessment, guidance and development services.
4. Valid driver’s licence (Code EB).

7. Stakeholder, client, staff and supplier relationship management skills.
8. Adult and youth training competencies
9. Financial management skills.
10. Excellent computing skills, including the MS Office suite of programmes (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
11. Understanding of team dynamics.
12. Knowledge of national career development and skills development strategies, human resource legislation and labour relations.
13. High-level administration and monitoring skills.
