RF Engineer (Radio Frequency Engineer)

Location: Bryanston
Reporting to:
Chief Network Officer
Purpose of the Role:
The RF Engineer has the responsibility of looking after certain key elements of the core network for the infrastructure department at a senior level for the company.

Requirements:
Senior/experienced resource with extensive customer service experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience
Customer focused
Follow up/feedback/progress reports
Project management methodology
Good communicator - verbal and written

Duties:
Monitoring the performance of the network by conducting periodic tests and analysing various reports generated from the monitoring systems
Analysis of KPIs, investigation and improvement of network quality problems
Perform RF performance activities in customer projects independently, according to project plan
Co-ordination with the field engineers of Radio Network and Switching Sections for rectifying radio network problems and improving the network performance and quality.
Conducting new site surveys for Radio and Transmission network for expansion
Preparation of Design Data for transmission sites.
Hardware dimensioning.
Proposals for network expansion / upgrades based on the traffic report analysis.
Dimensioning the network (number of channel elements) according to the coverage, capacity and quality requirements
RF planning, analysis and planning site parameters: site coordinates, antenna type, antenna height, antenna tilt, antenna azimuth, cable loss, propagation model parameters
Validating the site configuration by analyzing Technical Site Survey documentation results
Setting the specific RF parameters for the site to be integrated
Analysing site performance after integration through RF level measurements and detecting eventual problems and recommending changes to fixing those problems.
Coordinating and validating the technical work of a small group of RF performance engineers
Transferring the competence internally through formal trainings or on-the-job training
