Job Profile
Riggers are highly specialized in moving jobs that cannot be accomplished by ordinary means and use equipment expressly designed for moving and lifting objects.
Qualifications and Minimum Experience
• Four years’ experience as a Crane Rigger/Lift structure up to 30 tons
• Qualified (Red Seal) Rigger Certificate
• 5 years post-Trade Test in a heavy engineering environment
Duties and Responsibilities
• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure the safety of workers materials.
• Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability
• Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
• Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities and work schedule
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
• Clean and dress machine surface and component parts
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamp
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use
• Direct the support of Helper while providing training and oversight
• Coordinate and ensure all tasks are completed on time
• Follow directions carefully
• Comply with regulations and safety requirement
