Mandatory Requirements
Project Management Expertise
• The candidate must be a senior Project Manager who has implemented Enterprise-wide transformational projects previously.
• A strategic and resilient Project Manager is required for this role.
• The applicant must understand the importance of a confirmed and expected Go-live date of projects. The successful candidate must meet confirmed go-live dates at all account or in the absence thereof, provide compelling reasons upfront why the deadlines cannot be met.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to manage and drive a team with a minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience.
• Must have experience with working with multiple stakeholders

Information Systems and Technology Expertise
• The project manager that will be appointed must have demonstrated skills and expertise in the understanding of the development of management information systems;
• The project manager that will be appointed must have demonstrated skills and expertise in the implementation of information technology infrastructure and architecture.
• Must have experience working on large IT Implementation projects
• Must have own vehicle and be willing to travel within the City of Cape Town
• Knowledge of the SAP platform or systems would be advantageous.

Brief overview of job functions
• Will be involved in driving the business transformation and improvement within Safety and Security Directorate, enabled by the City’s new EPIC system including new build technology and to implement the integration which will include internal and external role players. Will be leading, motivating a team and ensuring strategic deliverables are met.
• The successful candidate will play a key role assisting with project management for all Safety and Security related projects. This person will focus on the less “technically” related aspects of the project, but more on the organisational project management.
• The successful candidate’s primary focus will be to assist with the implementation of project management plans that minimise employee resistance and maximise employee engagement and business commitment to the solution.
• The successful candidate will assist fostering adoption and utilisation of the system.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for knowledge transfer to other City of Cape Town employees on the project.

• Ensures proper records of financial affairs and transactions

• Builds due dates into assignments, tasks and delegations. Effectively communicates milestones and expected results
• Asks questions to obtain relevant information; Reviews progress and shares information; gets feedback on results from those directly involved.
• Ensure that all details of a project are accomplished. Keeps track of many small details without forgetting any.
• Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Able to set up systems and procedures to collect data, formulate and report on project progress to comply with the City’s governance requirements
• Establish a system to follow up on projects/tasks/assignments. Sets up feedback mechanisms in order to monitor work in progress
• Consistently attains targets and goals as planned. Delivers activities and plans as scheduled

Qualifications or Experience
• Industry approved qualification in project management.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in managing large scale projects
• Previous project management experience on SAP related projects a definite advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with a determination to help meet client needs are definite requirements.
• Previous experience in Local Government would be beneficial.
• Experience with large-scale organisational project management effort would be beneficial.
