PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide an integrated SHE Management service to ensure identification and management of SHE risks within the organisation's site.
the organisation requires a suitably competent and experienced SHE Manager to implement and manage safety, health, & environmental philosophy, processes and systems to ensure responsible business conduct by complying with all applicable legal and other requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Development and Implementation of SHE programmes and management plans to ensure the organisation meets applicable legal requirements, reduce workplace incidents and SHE risk exposures.
• Implementation of the SHE management system (ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001) to ensure adherence to the organisation SHEQ Policy and maintain/retains ISO certification.
• Ensure the organisation has all relevant Licenses, Permits & Authorizations and comply with the conditions thereof.
• Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management & occupational health management, permit to work and lock out procedures
• Implement incident management system
• Ensure effective staff performance management
• Auditing, inspections and validation of safety controls of equipment and machinery.
• Compile and manage operational & capital budgets to meet business objectives.
• Establishing and implementing emergency and response plans and ensuring routine emergency drill tests are in place

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• An in-depth understanding and working knowledge of safety, health & environmental legislation, in particular the Occupational Health & Safety Act, National Environmental Management Act and related Regulations
• Experience in implementation of ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18000 systems
• Good working knowledge of General Machinery Regulations, Occupational Health and Hygiene requirements
• Good planning, integration and resources management skills;
• Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentations.
• Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Power Point-proficient level (minimum).

POST REQUIREMENTS:
• A minimum of Bachelor’s/Btech degree in Safety/Risk Management and/or relevant equivalent qualification.
• 5-7 years relevant experience in the management of safety, health and environmental management within a steel/metal and/or manufacturing environment
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in staff management, performance management and leadership
• Incident Investigation course
• SAMTRAC (desirable).
• Driver’s License: Code B.
• ISO 14001/OHSAS18001 Implementation/Auditor course.
