A large Surfacing Construction company operating throughout South Africa and Africa is looking for suitably qualified Safety Manager with a sound knowledge of Safety on Roads & Earthworks sites and who are prepared to travel when necessary.

Position: SHE Manager - Construction
Branch: Epping Cape Town

Qualification: Appropriate Diploma/Degree in Safety Management.
Done SAMTRAC, HIRA, Legal Liability, Incident Investigation and other related OHS courses;
Registration as Safety manager with construction body
Preferably affiliated and in good standing with an OHS organisation or institution.
Proven experience and success in managing LTI’s & relevant safety initiatives

Experience: Previous experience in road construction environment essential.
Reports to: Managing Director

Reporting Staff: Safety Officers
Oversees Environmental manager

Responsibilities: Proactively drives change in a safety context
Do all accident and incident investigations and do internal HSE audits on all the sites.
Ensuring a safe working environment for employees
Traffic control
Ensuring compliance to all related legislation
Suggests ideas for continuous improvement
Also develop the Group HSE initiatives into action plans and train/mentor the HSE Practitioners on the various sites.
Implementation and facilitation of relevant H&S awareness campaigns
Continuous identification, follow up, and elimination of H&S risks
Ensuring prompt action to report and eliminate risks
Submission of various HSE reports as required by local and parent company
Preparation and update of Company H&S Policies & Procedures
Visibility on sites
Travel to East Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia (approx. once a year or when required but to keep in touch as necessary)

Excellent communication skills (bilingual of which one must be English) – both verbal and written
