SAFETY OFFICER LEVEL 2, CULLINAN, RNEG, CV
• Grade 12
• National Certificate: Health & Safety Management or studying towards National Diploma in Safety Management will be an
• advantage
• Blasting or Trade qualification
• 3 years’ experience in a Mining / Plant environment
• Valid Drivers’ License
• Computer Literate
• COMSOC 1 & 2 (will be an advantage)
• SHEMTRAC (will be an advantage)
• Risk Management Level 1 and Level 2

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with implementation, monitoring and evaluating:
o On-Mine Health and Safety Policy
o Emergency preparedness and response
o Safety objectives and targets
o Occupational Health and Safety Management System as per OHSAS18001
• Conduct legal and other safety inspections
• Investigate accidents, incidents, non-conformances or investigate other accidents, incidents, non-conformances as directed by
• the Chief Safety Officer, advice and monitor corrective and preventative action
• Facilitate and participate in the risk assessment programme as per the ISO31001 standard and CLIENT HIRA policy and monitor
• compliance
• Participate during external audits and ensure action plans are develop, implemented and monitored to ensure compliance
• Participate/Conduct internal audits according to organisational procedures, legislative requirements or as directed by the Chief
• Safety Officer.
Responsible for:
• Document and data control and using Isometrix system
• Compliance to legal and other requirements
• Performance measuring and monitoring
• Participation and development of Safety awareness campaigns
• Facilitation and monitoring of Group Operational Risk Management Process
• Training, awareness and competence verification and/or on-the-job training
• Participation and assisting with internal and external audits
• Conduct standby duties as and when required
• Keeping abreast of critical areas and work activities and legislation changes
