The purpose of this position is to supervise the wages function within the Payroll Management Team so that consistent, efficient, high quality services can be enjoyed by all wages employees and management.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• A relevant 3 year Payroll / Business related qualification.
EXPERIENCE:
• 2-3 years’ experience performing the full wages function in a Supervisory Role
• General ledger experience and extensive experience in SAP HCM Payroll is essential
Duties & Responsibilities
Wages Payroll Supervision
• Ensure effective supervision of the wages function; supervise the running and administration of the wages in a confidential and professional manner;
• Supervise and quality check the reconciliation of IRP5s at the end of each tax year; handle and supervise all PAYE related matters;
• Maintenance of wages records, develop and maintain employee personal record system(s) i.e. current legislation;
• Evaluate and recommend changes to compensation & benefit policies pertaining to wages staff, advise the payroll manager on pay issues, recommend and implement solutions to address these;
• Responsible for the supervision of the wages payroll, associated payments and statutory deductions;
Payroll (Wages) System(s)
• Provide assistance and guidance to wages staff on all wages issues;
• SAP Super User:- responsible for all suggestions to system changes and assist the manager with the testing regarding wages payroll;
• Develop reports from SAP for wages staff;
• Supervise the SAP system;
• Assist manager with the design, development and implementation of policies and procedures that will ensure accurate, timeous and valid transactions.
People Management
• Supervise wages payroll staff, related taxation and accounting activities, recruitment and selection, development, coaching and mentoring, employee relations, and day-to-day management of staff for the wages function;
• Motivate, coach and manage staff towards the achievement of goals; manage and monitor team service delivery and performance through performance management process and service levels agreements;
• Provide regular feedback, address poor work performance and nurture high performers; monitor the skills required for delivering services, develop successor's and communicate organisational and functional direction to the team;
• Oversee the performance of the wages function and take remedial action where required;
• Communicate company changes, policies and practices to ensure awareness on all levels
Service Delivery
• Manage collaborative arrangements and good working relationships with line managers, stakeholders and other members of the team which contribute to the overall success of the payroll objectives;
• Update the payroll manager of any issues, risks to be taken up at the technical committees dealing with payroll issues;
• Assist with all wages queries;
• Pro-actively manage continuous improvement in cost efficiencies and control improvements; implement the annual wages review process and ensure SLA's are met at all times.
Finance, Compliance and Reporting
• Liaise with the Payroll Manager on all finance and bank reconciliation and cash related issues/mattes;
• Implement and monitor all payroll policies, processes and procedures related to wages staff; accountable for the cost rate reports on wages, bonus schedules, remuneration and head count reports and leave provisions;
• Responsible for the production of management and ad hoc reports pertaining to wages activities; give input into the administration of the remuneration budget; report on all overtime to payroll manager to ensure this is within company guidelines ;
• Manage accurate, timeous and relevant wages reporting;
• Compile schedules of all ad hoc payments (travel, claims etc.) for authorisation by Payroll manager;
• Run the E-Filing (SARS) process.
