Your tasks and responsibilities
• Profiling and qualifying prospective business to secure clients.
• Obtaining sales interviews on the phone by cold calling and effectively manage call schedules.
• Ensuring and maintaining a strong sales pipeline.
• Planning time effectively.
• Keeping effective records as per company standard of all sales activities and customer interaction.
• Negotiation with external role players, to source the best possible solutions for target and existing accounts.
• Achieving market intelligence on the industry and the competition.
• Identify and target opportunities across all business units in company, but with a strong Overland focus (80/20 rule).
• Focus on a specific nominated Overland products and routes.
• Prepare proposals, quotes and obtain the relevant signatories as per the company guidelines.
• Secure regular customer appointments per month with prospective, new and existing business.
• Launching campaigns and ensuring individual and business Volume/GP/Activity sales targets are achieved (monthly, quarterly, annually).
• Coordinate and manage joint Sales efforts with all stakeholders in the company environment, local and
international and across all business units and business solutions (Networking).
• Prepare and present company solutions, products and services to all customers.
• Secure new business with clients of A, B and C sizes, ensuring that a balance between profitability and volume development is achieved and payment terms according to company policy (Vat & Duties are settled within 7 days).
• Ensure effective Implementation of new business, by ensuring that SOP/F&C and Rates are in place and that Operations clearly understand their roles and responsibilities so that start up is successful.
• Must be accountable for 12 months (from date of first shipment) for maintaining efficient customer service levels with new customers.
• Client liaison and ensuring that an acceptable level of customer entertainment and expenditure is maintained.
• Assist with the establishment and development of branch sales strategies and programmes.
• Social flexibility in terms of customer relationship development.
• Attend to all administrative work on new accounts – forwarding and clearing instructions, cost sheets, credit applications, account numbers, working instructions, special requirements etc.
• Ensure that all management reporting deadlines are met; internal and external reporting in required formats on business development, opportunities and profitability.
• Ensure that all Corelog and management reports are completed as required, as per Corelog targets.
• Adhere to Company policies regarding disciplinary action, company vehicles, office hours, operational procedures, gifts, meals and entertainment policy etc.
• Adherence to and support of company policies and guidelines regarding disciplinary action, company vehicles, office hours, operational procedures, gifts, meals and entertainment policy etc. is of critical importance.
• Complete relevant/required Pharmaceutical related training to support the development of the vertical.
• Responsibilities will include the identification, implementation, and monitoring of compliance to all applicable quality and service standards outlined in company’s GXP Policy Manual Pharma – P94, World Health Organization/ Medical Control Council, as well as any other legal Pharma requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to other junior Sales employees and learners / interns / graduates.

Your skills and experience
• Minimum 5 – 10 years in the Freight Forwarding Industry.
• Should at least have spent 5 years of the above in sales.
• Truck Cross Border knowledge (SADC / BLNS).
• Strong Incoterms and Customs knowledge.
• Presentation skills, especially the ability to structure a presentation to address client’s needs.
• Sales skill training would be a distinct advantage.
• Must be computer literate (Ms Office), advanced Excel and Power Point skills.
• Essential selling skills i.e. identifying and focusing on the customer needs; demonstrating how the
company’s services satisfy these needs; interactive listening; identifying buying signals; dealing with objections; problem solving; obtaining commitments; closing etc.
• Strong Financial acumen and accuracy with figures.
• Customer retention management training and experience would be advantageous.
• Proven commercial understanding of the freight forwarding industry.
• Assertive selling capability with very short sales-cycle (on-the-spot selling).
• Highly motivated and a self-starter.
• Energetic and detail oriented.
• Effective time-management skills.
