Timken has a strong presence in South Africa. Timken has approx. 200 associates in South Africa in its distribution and manufacturing operations.

Timken South Africa is looking for individuals who are passionate about developing new business opportunities, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a solid sales track record in the industrial market space.

Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for Sales functions in South Africa, encompassing all of the following:

•Provide strong and active field representation of Timken products and services with customers.
•Providing technical backup and support and offering tailored technical solutions to end users most demanding mission critical equipment.
•Maintain a strong presence in the marketplace and execute tactics and actions to achieve sales and profit targets.
•Apply a consultative selling methodology to establish Timken as a friction management provider who assists its partners and end user customers in meeting their own business objectives.
•Build strong relationships with these accounts to grow sales and market penetration. Relationship development with current and potential customers.
•Seek and feedback market intelligence to the business.
•Maintenance of customer information database on Sales Force Automation platform.
•Produce appropriate weekly and monthly reporting.

The Candidate

Qualifications - preference will be given to:

•Candidates with substantial experience in technical sales functions accompanied by a technical qualification (N6 or equivalent) Diploma Mech Enineering; or
•Candidates with a university degree in B.Tech / BSc Mechanical Engineering

Additional requirements:

•Candidates must also have a strong aptitude of mechanical systems (ability to read technical drawings) and have an understanding of industrial markets – specifically Southern Africa.
•Technical Sales experience
•Computer literate (MS Office);
•Confident and outgoing personality with effective communication skills;
•Self starter and highly motivated;
•Languages – proficient in business English (written and oral);
•Valid code 8 driver’s license with no endorsements;
•Must be prepared to travel on a regular basis;
•SA Citizen.
