Requirements for the Sales Engineer job in Johannesburg:

- B Tech Electrical Engineering / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Relevant Trade Certificate or equivalent
- 5 Years work experience in a technical field involving pneumatic industrial automation products
- Sales experience with industrial products or in an industrial environment
- Experience with a type of computer based CRM will be an advantage
- Experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer
- Good people and sales skills, as well as telesales skills
- Have a systematic and effective method for fault finding and an attitude to complete the task, even if it falls outside the boundaries of companies scope of supply

Your key job responsibilities as the Sales Engineer in Johannesburg will include:

- Grow the business according to the required growth targets by actively targeting potential customers in the Gauteng Region with a view to growing sales and market share
- Increase sales in Industrial automation products and services supplied by the company to the customers already in the portfolio
- Defend existing customers from advances from opposition industrial automation companies in the region
- Negotiate favourable sales conditions for the company and our customers with respect to projects and tenders
- Make regular use of the available equipment for demonstrations and customer expo’s with a view to winning sales and market share
- Be available for technical support to company staff as well as customers when required
- Be responsible for technical consulting on joint calls with Systems Engineers according to requirements
- Be responsible for presentations to customers as part of a team selling exercise with Systems Engineers, other Sales Engineers, or individually
- Conduct all sales and service quotations, orders and service calls according to prescribed pricing and discount structures
- Be prepared to document and track activities with respect to target customers and strategic customers
- Keep accurate reports of time spent at customers through the company CRM with correct information entered. The information in the CRM must be kept up to date at all times, and replicated with the server twice a week as required
- Carry out the relevant research and development for special applications that may be required by customers from time to time
- Assist the Regional Manager and Systems Engineers with various customer related functions, including the generation of manuals, technical reports, and other necessary documents
- Help with the design and layout of customer control solutions, including the specification of automation products, control panel design, layout and pricing
- Attend the monthly sales meeting and actively contribute to the meeting discussions with a view to improving sales, efficiencies and technical knowledge of themselves and the team
- Attend or run internal training sessions as and when required for sales personnel and customers on the technical aspects of company equipment
