Job Purpose
Facilitation of science centre spaces and exhibition floors through ensuring a high quality, safe and engaging visitor experience. Raising awareness, understanding and insight in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) concepts. Encouraging public, learner and educator engagement with STEM through interactive exhibits, shows, workshops and laboratory experiments. Assisting the science centre team with administration, programme development, and event management and implementation either at Sci-Bono or at remote sites or other venues. Provide training in STEM exhibits, programmes, shows and workshops, including training of other science centre team members.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcome and orientate visiting school groups and public to the centre and provide a friendly and hospitable service to all visitors
2. Understand the operation of all STEM exhibits and facilitate the engagement of visitors with the STEM exhibits
3. Have sufficient knowledge of and the ability to communicate the STEM concepts and real life applications of all STEM exhibits
4. Ensure visitor safety through proficient knowledge and understanding of all the safety and evacuation procedures and routes
5. Ensure adherence of visitors to safety requirements and correct behavior in the centre.
6. Administer and follow proper first aid protocols if required to do so.
7. Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of exhibits and programmes
8. Report damaged or malfunctioning exhibits
9. Development, teaching and delivery of science shows, workshops, practical experiments, lessons and presentations.
10. Assist with administration, management, logistics, venue setup, data capture, maintenance and implementation, development & reporting of STEM programmes and activities both on and off site.
11. Provide training on the STEM exhibits, programmes, shows and workshops.

Key Requirements:
• Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics, Physical Science and/or Life Science
• Tertiary Qualification in Mathematics, Science and/or Education
• Two years experience in communicating STEM
• Proven leaderships and group management skills
• Preferably experience in science centre
• Working with the public and young people
• Be able to work independently and in a team.
• Be able to communicate fluently in more than two South African languages.
• Basic computer literacy skills including MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, and Outlook.
• Time and resource management skills.
• Facilitation, communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts.
• Ability to read, discuss and interpret information with the visitors.
• Well developed interpersonal skills.
• Understand constructivist and creative learning approaches and have the ability to apply these in facilitating learning environments.
