Sea-Freight Imports Controller – TEMP

Leading client in the Sea Freight and Forwarding industry has an Opportunity available for a 2 – 3 month temporary contract.

2 – 3 Months Maternity Contract.

Qualifications;
Must have Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
Level 4 Literacy & Numeracy required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook) and Compu-Clearing.
Minimum of 3 Years’ experience in the Sea Freight Import and forwarding industry.
Incoterms 2010
Customs import requirements and procedures.
SA Trade agreements.
Various shipping lines and their procedures.
Unpack depots
Basic financial principles
Shipping terminology and abbreviations.
Procedures to be followed regarding lost, damages, short, landed, missing or miss-routed cargo.

Duties:
Obtain all relevant import documentation from clients i.e. house bills of lading, suppliers invoices and clearing instructions.
Comply with relevant standard operating procedures.
Negotiate rates with shipping lines and road haulers and other third parties.
Obtain ANF from the shipping lines, and SOB details from co-loaders.
Register import job files on the computer, hand file to entry clerk for framing once registered.
Batching and checking of customs documentation once the entry has been framed and then submit to customs.
Sending order to overseas offices and follow up regarding the status.
Preparing of portent cargo dues orders.
Payments to shipping lines and co-loaders.
Preparing of delivery instructions for LCL and FCL shipments.
Obtaining DRO’s
Deliver instructions to road haulers.
Prepare status reports for clients.
Follow up of shipments.
Handle day to day queries.
Costing of import shipments.
Preparing files for invoices.
Daily liaison with clients.
Closing of job files.
Communicate with all stake holders.
Updating of clients rates and records.
Comply with all import regulations – SAAF, FIATA, carriage of goods by sea.
Follow protocol in terms of claims procedures.
Ensure quality processes / checks are managed in line with ISO requirements.
Comply with all company policy and procedures.
