Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel is looking for a seasonal seamstress ( October 2016 - March 2017).Main Duties and responsibilities includeAbility to pay high attention to detailStrong value system and unquestionable integrityTeam player with the ability to work well with various staff membersHave the ability to stand and/or sit for 7 hours of an 8 hour shiftGood hand-eye coordination is essentialAbility to follow instruction & work independently when requiredWork well under pressure in a fast paced environmentHave the ability to take accurate measurements, directions and have the ability to deal with demanding and sometimes difficult customers.Enthusiastic, courteous & helpful to colleagues & customersAdaptable & flexibleResponsible, with the willingness to take ownership and be accountableMinimum requirementsMinimum of 1 year experience in the rolePrevious experience within a similar role at a hotel would be advantageousKnowledge of linings, fabrics, creating solid seams, cutting patterns and pieces and working with linen and curtains.Previous experience in operating & using a modern sewing machine, over lock machine, heat seal, steam iron, scissors, rippers and bolt cutters in a safe and efficient mannerExperienced in fixing tears, repairing seams and performing alterations of garments, according to department and hotel requirements.
