Section Engineer

Our client, a mining concer based in the Northern Cape is looking to appoint a Section Engineer

Requirements
• Grade 12
• Government Certificate of Competence: Mines and Works
• A National Diploma or Degree in Engineering
• A Masters in Business Administration(MBA) – will serve as an advantage
• A minimum of 6 years engineering and production experience within a mining environment
• A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the engineering environment
• A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence
• Thorough knowledge of 11kV-22kV distribution overhead lines, cables, transformers and LV process plant equipment
• Computer literacy in MS Office suite
• Sound working knowledge of maintenance systems, mobile equipment, contractor management, as well as plant maintenance
• The ability to work accurately under pressure
• Proven managerial skills
• A high standard of teamwork
Key performance areas include, inter alia
• Ensuring compliance with all regulations with regard to mechanical and electrical reticulations(as per the 2.13.1 legal appointment)
• Managing, developing and coaching team members
• Developing and maintaining productive relations with internal and external customers
• Compiling, implementing and managing maintenance schedules to provide effective support to operations
• Managing all contractors on site and ensuring adherence to all rules and regulations
• Scheduling and monitoring the execution of the asset care activities
• Assisting the Superintendent: Planning in the planning of maintenance windows, coordinating the needs between operations and maintenance
• Assisting management in compiling the operational strategy, setting production targets and compiling, managing and controlling operational and labour budgets
• Ensuring plant and equipment optimisation
• Implementing operational plans that support strategic initiative
• Initiating or assisting line management in motivating, implementing and managing improvement projects
• Recognising , understanding and taking action to manage risks
• Adhering to and enforcing compliance with the requirements of the Quality Management System
• Engineering analysis, design, planning and implementation
• Contributing to annual departmental budget planning
• Translating SHERQ goals applicable to the sub-function, as derived from the business plan into clear direction
• Driving actions to encourage, implement and improve systems
• Performing ad hoc and any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time
