Our client based in Mpumalanga is looking for a Section Engineer to ensure compliance with MHSA, EMPR and all other statutory compliance

Education and Minimum Requirements

Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Degree / National Diploma NQF 6
Certificate of Competency for Mines and Works
5 years operational experience in maintenance and/or Engineering
Experience in Metallurgical Plant maintenance
Medically fit (Red ticket)
Computer Literacy
Valid driver’s licence
Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with MHSA, EMPR and all other statutory compliance
Ensure compliance to COP’s and SOP’s
Ensure best practice standards and complete HAZOP studies where necessary
Carry out statutory checks and inspections on equipment and systems as per the MHSA
Ensure effective maintenance and repairs of mechanical / electrical equipment and quality checks
Condition monitoring of Concentrate Production equipment
Proactively identify improvements to eliminate breakdowns
Maximise plant availability by enforcing appropriate maintenance standards
Identify and enforce appropriate daily, weekly, monthly and annually maintenance inspections on equipment
Operational efficiency and effectiveness to optimize performance
Planning and prioritizing maintenance activities according to OEM specification
Ensure utilization of maintenance schedules for equipment are issued
Monitor and document key parameters such as labour utilization, maintenance effectiveness
Network and liaise with engineering companies and equipment suppliers to continuously improve existing systems and implement new systems / equipment where applicable
Ensure adequate stock levels of critical equipment
Compile and control annual budgets and maintenance targets
Identify and apply cost saving measures through continuous improvements of maintenance practices
Identify and motivate projects to ensure continuous improvement
Apply for Capital Expenditure through a techno-economic evaluation
Manage projects to quality, cost and time
Oversee and close out safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports
Audit subordinates and area for safety and identify registrations to assure legal compliance
Enhance safety awareness throughout working area
Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
Develop and implement the safety initiative for the section
Manage own team’s performance
