A vacancy exists for a Security Official/CAA Accredited Screener within the Operations division of GES AFRICA.

Reports to: Security Manager
Location: Hoedspruit

Job Purpose:

Security Officials are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for clients and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.

Main Duties and responsibilities are:

• To be Prompt on arrival for each scheduled shift to ensure proper hand-over from departing Security Officials.
• To secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; and restricting entry to authorised travellers, employees and contractors.
• To undertake routine patrols in the assigned section(s) of the project area and/or for external sites as instructed.
• To execute the patrol irrespective of weather conditions; patrols will be either on foot or in an assigned vehicle.
• To effectively cover the assigned area and report any suspicious activity or transgressions immediately.
• To obtain help by sounding alarms.
• To prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; and restraining trespassers.
• To be prepared to use your firearm for the protection of lives and property as stipulated by the rules of engagement and the application of minimum force.
• To keep firearm and other equipment clean and safe while on patrol.
• To ensure that the firearm register is signed each time a firearm is withdrawn.
To ensure that your permits for firearms and the company ID card will be carried by the bearer of the firearm at all times.
• To Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; and obtaining signatures.
• To maintains a safe environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
• To enforce rules and regulations relating to the property in question, including provincial laws and regulations.
• To contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• To communicate with the security supervisor and/or manager throughout each shift.
• To participate in required training to have sufficient knowledge to efficiently and effectively discharge assigned job duties.
• To adhere to all company policies and guidelines.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• PSIRA Grade C. (Grd A would be advantageous)
• South African Police Services (SAPS) issued competency certificate for all unit standards based firearms.
• Must successfully pass a polygraph check.
• Clear criminal and credit record.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Fire-Fighting and First-Aid certifications.
• High level of attention to detail, organization and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact successfully with employees and clients.
• Ability to be part of a dynamic team and contribute to the team efforts as the need arises.
• Ability to apply strict time and resource management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• One official indigenous language, English and/or Afrikaans.
• Registered with SACAA for Security Aviation Screening (Current)
• Prior Experience in Screening.
