Senior Accountant – Durban

Salary – R35 000 – R45 000 CTC Based on Experience

Our client in Durban is looking for an accountant and office administrator to join their team. The suitable candidate should have experience with foreign accounts and dealing with international head offices. Please read the duties and requirements carefully before applying.

Duties:
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledgers
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, equity statement, cash flows)
Perform Profit and Loss variance analysis
• Account reconciliations
• Foreign currency translation
• Track intercompany transactions among related entities
• Coordinate annual year-end external audit
• Billing, accounts receivable and credit management
• Payment processing including wire transfers
• Maintain schedules for prepayment, deferred income, inventory valuation, fixed assets
• Work with shareholders in South Africa and U.S.A. to ensure each’s respective financial reporting requirements are satisfied
• Assist with preparation of annual office budget and budget variance tracking
• Assist with tax filing and reporting
• Assist with BBEEE audit requirements
• Reconciliation of monthly Vat returns
• Maintaining and developing appropriate internal control
• Supporting and drive the business core values and strategy
• Assist local staff with administrative duties including general corporate matter, customer and interoffice communication, travel & entertainment, IT systems, Minute taking and other day to day office needs

Requirements:
• 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
• Experience in a shipping environment advantageous
• Proficiency in ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV as plus)
• Working knowledge of accounting package – Sage Accpac or similar
• Microsoft Office software including advanced Excel skills
• Degree in Accounting, advanced degreed preferred
• Knowledgeable in IFRS, familiarity with U.S. GAAP a plus
