Reporting to the Head of the General Insurance practice and providing actuarial & technical assistance to the internal employees and/ or clients.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the General/ short-term Insurance industry
Experience with SAM, ORSA’s, reserving and solvency valuations
Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
Strong actuarial technical skills
Good communication skills
Strong work ethic and highly motivated
Ability to work to a deadline and give regular feedback on progress
May be required to travel from time to time


Manage actuarial team
Managing work allocation, mentoring actuarial staff
Achieving key performance indicators
Ensuring quality control procedures are adhered to and maintained
Maintain and improve client relationships
Provide technical advice to General Insurance clients on all areas (including reserving, SAM, solvency, FCR’s, ORSA, pricing, Head of Actuarial Control, etc.)
Meeting and exceeding team’s income budget
Supporting Head of General Insurance Practice
Membership of Actuarial Society of South Africa committees/ sub-committees
Participating in R and D programme, seminars or conferences
Participating in marketing exercises and assisting with tenders
Maintaining and developing knowledge of the client markets/ countries
Keeping up to date with General Insurance practice and CPD for Southern Africa

Technical Marketing Actuarial Analyst
Sandton
R900 000 pa neg.

Responsible for the overall positioning of with clients, financial advisors and other stakeholders including the media and regulators. A key focus is to assist the distribution force increase their productivity.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
• Analyse unique data and produce first to market insights
• Perform Industry analyses and competitor comparisons
• Produce various education pieces on product and process to assist financial advisers
• Prepare and deliver presentations on technical components of marketing material for product launches and industry roadshows
• Research and write white papers that tackle new initiatives within the short term insurance industry
• Develop intermediary tools to assist selling
• Participate in and drive strategic marketing and distribution projects that have a broad scope and are focused on driving sales and building the brand
• Analyse unique data and produce first to market insights

Essential Knowledge
• Advanced Technical Actuarial skills
• Advanced Technical short term insurance product knowledge across all lines in the industry
• Advanced Data and portfolio analysis, Intermediate understanding of short term insurance industry and related legislation
• Advanced understanding of short term insurance business processes
Experience (Essential)
• Matric
• Actuarial qualification
• 2-3 years Actuarial experience
• Min 3yrs strong track record experience in communications (written, presentation and negotiation)
• 3-5 years Technical Actuarial experience in Personal and Commercial Short term insurance
• 2 years track record of innovation
