Senior Airfreight Controller - Perishables

Responsibilities will include but are not:

Export processing of airfreight perishable shipments.
Manage customs formalities relating to exports.
Handling of PPECB and DAF Formalities.
Application of cold chain knowledge in dealing with all perishable cargo.
Customer interaction and business development.
Managing Airline and transporter bookings.
Analysis of routings with the vision to improve.
Handling of customer communication including:
Pre alert
Departure confirmation
Quoting
Invoicing
Solving any queries
Responsible for the profitability of the perishable exports shipment.
Generation and training of client specific SOP’s.
Co-ordination of transporters, warehouse staff and Handing agent.
Confirmation and management of third party invoices.
Responsible for the end to end Invoicing for the customers.
Provide weekly and month end reporting on all exports perishable operations.
Manage all perishable cargo export operations.
Dealing with government agencies regarding permits and requirements.
Take a lead in improving routings.

Your skills and experience

Relevant commerce degree/diploma or any other NQF 4 level qualification will be a distinct advantage.
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in freight forwarding industry with demonstrated exposure to perishables in an exports environment.
Proven experience in liaising with relevant authorities like DAF
Experience in dealing PPECB
Service oriented and able to drive root cause analysis and problem resolution.
Strong verbal and written communication skills especially in English.
Self-disciplined and self-motivated to achieve targets and adequate levels of productivity.
Excellent understanding of the airfreight market.
Proven ability to research, and interpret relevant information to advise customers adequately regarding export files.
Ability to work in a team and proactively share information to enable customer excellence.
Proven-in depth understanding of relevant statutory requirements for the airfreight import
and export markets with thorough Inco terms understanding.
Candidates must be South African citizens or hold applicable work permits to work in the country.
Suitable candidates will be subject to relevant background checks to ensure internal governance and customer requirements are fulfilled.
