Senior BI / Qlikview Developer required for leading Financial Institution based in Johannesburg. Your skills and experience are required to manipulate and prepare data for reporting purposes, build cubes and data marts for different business users to view and use for analysis and decision making. To maintain the Business Intelligence environment by developing a business layer to act as the foundation for the BI tool. To maintain the meta data layer and to act as a key member in a high performing functional team.

Key areas of focus will include:

Perform data extractions using BASE SAS from various data sources eg. Data Warehouse and excel according to specified business requirements

Engage with system developers during creation of new extracts to obtain systems access and to build a knowledge network

Construct and execute Structured Query Language (SQL) database queries to extract needed data. This includes new and existing data queries

Identify new sources of data via notifications from the data warehouse team when required by the business area and ensure updates are made to data definitions and communicated to impacted contributors.

Investigate, in accordance to business requirements, the availability of appropriate data to facilitate delivery of the semantic layer.

Investigate and formulate clear data structures from a systems perspective to ensure delivery to stakeholders by building the semantic layer according to business expectation.

Identify gaps in the star schema design and address this according to the agreed requirements

Personally ensure appropriate application of error handling and data "cleanup" methodology to provide credible output.

Drive the completion of any enhancements to systems where appropriate to facilitate relevant data delivery

Provide appropriate up to date documentation including technical specifications being developed for all semantic layers being developed

Service Delivery - BI Business Layer Development

Model data using dimensional modeling into a star schema where possibly to improve efficiency.

Develop the business layer via building a semantic layer of information for output through the BI tool.

Develop and Maintain the Business Intelligence cubes and data marts with relevant business views via using Oracle and SAS.

Aim to design solutions that are flexible, scalable and reusable based on best practice themes and guidelines.

Conduct system testing to ensure solution is designed to User specification in conjunction with BI Team Leader.

Ensure that data quality controls are followed in the development lifecycle.

Skills and experience required:
Min 6 years Business Intelligence experience

Min 6 years project experience i.e. worked in project related Environment

Bachelor degree - BSc Information Technology

Honours degree in BSc IT highly advantageous
