PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
• To lead and manage the Company, which includes business development in South Africa and beyond, setting up of structures and systems making it a viable, sustainable industry player in the facilities maintenance and related field in South Africa.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategy
• Development and implementation of strategies and related business plans that are appropriate for the growth of the company
Corporate Governance
• Establishment and implementation of good corporate governance principles, company organogram, communication structures and system.
• Development and implementation of policies and procedures in line with the relative legislations.
• Ensure that the company is registered with appropriate professional bodies, government entities and secure operational licenses
Business Development
• Identify clients and negotiate for new business development in line with strategic plans.
• Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLA) are agreed to and signed with clients, following all internal process.
Operational Management
• Ensure that all client contracts are serviced consistently in accordance with the agreed SLA
• Identify facilities maintenance goals and objectives consistent with strategic plans
• Ensure that departments within the company operate in line with corporate governance principles, accepted industry norms and related SLAs
• Provide advice and guidance to Supervisors with their day – to – day management
Health and Safety
• Initiate health and safety training for staff
• Ensure the observance and practice of health and safety principles, such as tool box talks etc.
• Develop a health and safety recording system
Risk Management
• Establishment and implementation of appropriate risk and audit management systems at various levels of the company
Stakeholder managers
• Manage the interactions with various stakeholders to the benefit and growth of the company.
Management of staff
• Develop a succession plan that ensures own succession and at other levels by suitably quailed individuals, taking into account the Employment Equity Act.
• Ensure that staff is developed, disciplined and mentored accordingly.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Academic qualifications:
• B. Degree or National Diploma in Building Science and Business studies or equivalent
Experience:
• Min 5 years’ experience in building facilities maintenance as a manager
• Ideal: 6+ years experiences as a senior building facilities maintenance manager
Additional Requirements
• Computer literacy would be an advantage.
• Must be able to converse, read and write fluently in English.
• Attention to detail is imperative.
• Ability to work independently.
• Willing to work overtime as and when required.
• Resilience to work under pressure.
