Civil Engineering Company based in Durban is looking Senior Buyer

Job Purpose:
The successful candidate will be responsible for all Controlled spending of the Company’s resources against budget on items as per customer’s specification and quality standards, delivered at the correct time to suit the Production build program.

Key Performance Areas:
Buying materials as per contractual requirement and for resale.
Supplier Audits in conjunction with Quality and Technical departments.
Lead purchasing dept. staff, setting objectives targets and performance measurement.
Material progressing/ expediting.
Identify and prepare long lead item enquiries for order placements on new projects.
Represent Purchasing at all Production meetings.
Prepare, analyse and present monthly reports.
Authorize all purchase orders.
Control departmental expenditure against budget.
Provide daily guidance & problem solving to staff.
Control Supplier Defect Reports and report on Supplier Performance including actions to improve On Time Deliveries.
Assist accounts department to resolve Creditor queries.
Control supplier base including development of new suppliers and cost reduction initiatives.
Co-ordinate supplier movements on site related to defective/faulty equipment or components.
Co-ordinate transport requirements.

Qualification, Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:
Must have between 5 to 10 year’s Experience with the Civil and Building industry
Must have a Drivers Licence with own Car
Must be willing to travel around provide to sites
Computer literacy Skill (MS Office)
Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good Negotiation Skills
A logical and analytical thinker
Able to work under pressure
