SENIOR BUYER - Spares
Key Functions:
- Research and source goods and services from local and overseas suppliers/vendors
- Maintain our profit margins
- Manage freight forwarding for imported goods
- Ensure that there are no stock outages
Duties
- Finding the right suppliers who supply goods or services of a consistently good
quality
- Research, evaluate and purchase goods and services
- Resolve problems and issues arising from the purchase of goods and services
- Reacting to changes in customer demand (internal and external), monitoring stock
levels and ensuring that we have sufficient stock at all times
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones
- Negotiating prices, settlement discounts, trade discounts and rebates
- Ensuring that suppliers carry enough stock
- Initiate cost savings
- Manage thespares price list ensuring that we maintain our required Gross
Profit percentages at all times, monitoring the daily gross profit on local spares and
investigating variances.
- Reporting and feedback on changes in the economy which have an impact on our
costs and processes and proposing solutions or plans in order to react to such
changes.
- Managing the supply of imported goods ensuring cost effective transport and
consolidation of orders.
- Maintaining container schedules and unbooked currency schedules for foreign
suppliers in order to manage the process from order to supply and payment of
goods.

Requirements
- have Matric (Grade 12)
- a degree or diploma in purchasing or supply chain management would be
advantageous - 5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Have good negotiation skills
- Work under pressure and multi task
- be able to work accurately and independently with attention to detail
- be computer literate (Pastel and MS Office)
- be able to work as part of a team
- have good analytical skills
- have good planning skills
- be prepared to work extended hours when required
