Senior Copy Editor

Location: Observatory, Cape Town
Salary: R25k per month CTC (inclusive of Medical Aid, Pension, Life Cover)

Purpose of the Role:
Correcting any grammatical, punctuation, consistency, functionality and spelling errors. Double check that names, places and organizations are spelled correctly and that facts, dates and statistics are accurate.

Requirements:
Grade 12 and BA degree with specialisation in Language (English as a major) – Linguistics a preference
At least 5 years’ experience as a Copy Editor
A post-graduate qualification in Linguistics would be beneficial
Exposure to both Online and Print an advantage
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong planning, organizing and problem-solving ability
Strong interpersonal skills
Detailed orientated
Team oriented
Follow written and listen to verbal instructions from superiors
Ability to analyse and objectively give feedback to and receive from colleagues and superiors
Ability to cross-reference across multiple deliverables

Ability to work across platforms which include print and online resources

Duties:
Responsible for maintaining the highest quality within documents prepared for internal and external clients
Editing and proofing of all documentation and online material generated (training manuals, materials, presentations, proposals, etc.) and paying particular attention to: spelling, grammar, consistency and punctuation
Establishing and maintaining standards and styles for the various programmes
Keep up to date with relevant trends and factual research related to Quality Management
Manage projects and communicate timeously if unable to meet deadlines
Communicate and work collaboratively across teams
