Candidate will be responsible for the conceptualizing of marketing campaigns, write effective direct marketing copy and taking a secondary leadership role within the copy team.

Qualifications & Accreditations
A Copywriting Diploma from an accredited marketing/advertising tertiary institution

Experience & Skills
• Minimum of 7 years’ writing experience in a similar role or at an advertising agency
• Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal
• Excellent computer literacy in InDesign and MS Office suite
• Experience in a direct marketing/below the line environment would an added advantage
• Proven experience in producing excellent copy with minimum guidance

Key Performance Areas
Copywriting
Write engaging, effective copy for, promotional materials, in accordance with merchandise briefs, adhering to specified timelines
Creation of promotional material that enables business to meet targets
• Developing effective sales copy that follows brief and adequately portrays product to maximize sales and meet campaign objectives
• Work closely with designers and Creative Manager to conceptualize marketing campaigns and create new promotions that support campaign targets
• Constantly write promotions of a consistent high quality in accordance with merchandise brief and adhering to strict timelines
• Craft copy for a number of direct marketing channels, including but not limited to: catalogues, emails, virals, banner ads, flyers, direct mail campaigns, acquisition booklets, letters, SMS messages and magazine articles
• Manage various projects in addition to writing work
• Manage additional ad hoc tasks as required and instructed by Copy Chief
Quality control and flow of logic throughout campaigns
• Drive campaigns from conceptual stage through to download
• Proof own work and that of others and ensure work is error-free from creative proof stage onwards and that all changes are made timeously and with exceptional attention to detail
• Ensuring excellent flow of logic in both copy and layout. Focus on 'what' is being said as well as 'how' it is being said
• Manage change within the studio and ensure that campaign changes are picked up on quickly and communicated to the rest of the studio
• Drive brainstorms and lead meetings where required
Talent management
• Help Copy Chief to mentor junior writers
• Take charge of writing team in Copy Chief’s absence
