Senior Cost Controller
Durban – TEMP 6 Month Contract
Salary: Negotiable
Position Summary:
To provide cost control service on projects through effective cost control measures, forecasting and through accurate pro-active reporting, thereby enabling accurate decision making by Senior Project Managers and Project Managers. These to provide effective integrated project controls & services to Projects and operating divisions
Outputs:

1. Establish project control budgets based on approved Project Specific Agreements (PSA).
2. Cost Control functions including control base creation, budget preparations forecasting and cost reporting.
3. Review cost commitment and expenditure information including purchase orders.
4. Prepare and establish Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and align with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
5. Develop, implement and drive integrated plan for control plan on projects.
6. Responsible for developing and setting up a quality integrated control base enabling quality cost control for all projects.
7. Change Control driven effectively on project which negates late reporting or payments.
8. Ensure Cost Control requirements are incorporated in the tendering documents.
9. Ensure Governance in cost control on projects.
10.Generate monthly costflow forecasts in collaboration with the project team.
11.Generate project cost reports on projects and studies (EIA etc).
12.Ability to do man-hour control and forecasting in line with project schedule.
13.Project Risk captured pro-actively in risk register to be reflected as part of the FFC.
14.Regular interaction with clients to ensure a professional service is delivered.
15.Ensure adherence to and the effective use of tools, Transnet systems and procedures (including standards and appropriate templates).
16.Implementing new business procedures congruent to best practice.
17.Comply with all requirements of the Project Execution Plans (PEP).
18.Manage, develop and guide Cost Controllers under his/her supervision.
19.Reconciliation of forecast and actual expenditure and produce project accruals.
20.Prepare forecasts including Estimate to Capital (ETC) on a monthly basis.

Qualifications & Experience:

A relevant Bachelor’s degree/equivalent diploma B Com/ B Compt/B.Tech/BSc (QS)/BSc Eng/B Eng or related qualification,
6-10 years relevant experience as a Cost Controller in a multidiscipline project environment.
Project Management experience will be added an advantage.

Knowledge:

Preferred – basic technical knowledge of civil, building and construction projects.
Preferred – advanced technical knowledge of establishing control base, cost control requirements, cost reporting and cash flow.
In-depth knowledge of Budgeting, distribution of budgets, Controlling Costs and Forecasting final costs, including cash-flow, commitment and escalation forecasting.
Advanced understanding of estimating.
Basic knowledge of procurement, contracts, quantity surveying, planning, scheduling and engineering process and procedures
Risk management principles - advanced
Good knowledge of project management principles
